After finishing up the 10th video in the series I can safely say that these videos are really good. Stanford University released their CS106A lectures on Youtube. The class is basically intro to programming and teaches you basic Java. The main purpose behind the videos is to understand programming methodology. What really makes these videos great is Professor Mehran Sahami. The guy is really good at making dry material very interesting. So far I have not learned much code wise but I’m surprised at how much I have learned about programming theory.

If your a new programmer or an intermediate programmer without college experience I really recommend this free programming video series!  The series contains 28 videos that are about 50 minutes each.

The only thing I would warn absolute new programmers about is the fact he sometimes assumes a little bit of basic programming knowledge but overall it is a heck of a lot better than most beginner programming books.

I happened to see this video yesterday on the main page of google videos and was surprised at how polished this operating system looks.  It is called moblin and is designed for the growing popularity of netbooks.  At it’s core it is linux but it sports a very sleek and simple UI for the average user.  If your a netbook owner you might want to check this out.  One thing to note though is that it is still in beta but it does seem very stable.  I was actually at BestBuy yesterday looking at netbooks and seen that they start at just $250 and go up.  I might invest in one so that I can start programming on the beach.  The only downfall to the netbooks is the fact the keys are so small.  Anyways below is the video for the Moblin 2.0 OS and you can visit the official site at Moblin.org.

I have a few things to do this morning so not much time to write up a post so I figured I would make this one short and sweet.

(Betrayal at Krondor Box Cover)

I went to go help my mother with the rummage sale at the church and I found this neat looking large boxed video game.  The sticker on the case had “Best Fantasy Role Playing Game 1993?.  So I bought it for $1 and brought it home to find out that the game is on floppy disks.  So now I just have this neat looking box sitting by my computer since I’m too lazy to go dig through all my PC junk in the attic to find a floppy drive.
