I’m very pleased to announce that I’m officially a member of the DZone team! It all started about a month ago when I was contacted by Rick Ross. To my surprise Rick had actually seen my blog and happened to read a post about me possibly seeking some freelance work. So he recommended that I got in contact with Matt to see if they had any coding work. Well I wasn’t quite qualified for the code work that needed to be done so I figured that my chances of working for DZone were gone. Luckily around that same time Rick contacted me again about a job within his department. He basically said that he liked how I was trying to get the DZone community more involved with my link posts and he then offered me a position for link moderation. We agreed that we would give it a month to see how things went. As you can assume it’s been a month since then and I’m now officially a member of the DZone team.

As a link moderator my job is to stay on top of developer news and events. I post links on DZone to articles which I think developers will find beneficial. I also block the spam links (you’d be surprised how many we actually get) and try to be an active member within the link community. Currently I’m working toward becoming an article writer for the Web Builder Zone. I would like to personally thank Rick for taking a chance on me and also the rest of the DZone staff for giving me a warm welcome. I really love my job at DZone and can honestly say that I see myself being a team member for a very long time.

Encase you live under a rock that blocks your internet access to DZone (no other reason why you wouldn’t already know what it is, haha) I will explain to you what DZone is in a nutshell. DZone stands for Developer Zone and hence the name DZone was created for developers. The most popular part of DZone is the links. People post links to developer related articles around the net. You can think of the link section as Digg but better. DZone also has a wide array of different sites which DZone article writers produce content for (such as Javalobby, .NET Zone, PHP Zone, and many others). Another thing DZone is famous for is providing cheat sheets for all sorts of topics.

I would also like to remind everyone that starting tomorrow I will be posting my first blog series. I will be creating a detailed development log for my J2ME mobile game. I will be posting about everything from concept to sales whether it’s good or bad. So if you would like to follow the series and see a raw development log for an indie game or if you’d like to read some of my other future posts I encourage you to subscribe to my blog!
