Basic Collision Detection

Yesterday I made some headway with the game by adding camera movement. The camera is not yet finished but it is functional. I spent most of my time yesterday optimizing the screen rendering so it requires less resources. I threw together a quick tech demo for my camera. Obviously nothing in this video should be judged and all the graphics used are for demo purposes only. Below is the video of the camera and it isn’t the smoothest because I was playing with some settings when I recorded it so the actual game play looks a little smoother.

Today I’m going to start on world collision. Basically I’m going to create a system that will detect when the player hits a wall. Seeing as this is fairly important I will be making sure that it works well. If I happen to get that done then I will be moving on to player key movements. I will have a tech demo again tomorrow for the collision detection. Since I have had a poll every post I figured I wouldn’t stop yet so today’s poll is about the player inventory. Since this will be a single player game do you want the inventory to have any storage limits?

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.
