If you happen to be a developer that’s laid off or just have a little extra time on your hands than you might want to consider looking at Sunlight Labs Apps for America 2 Contest (The data.gov challenge).  You have until August 7th to create an app that will utilize data.gov.  For the full details on the contest you can head on over to the sunlightlabs site.

I don’t think I will be entering the contest because I’m sure much more talented developers will be submitting apps considering the top prize is $10,000.  I might submit something though just to say I tried.
