After finishing up the 10th video in the series I can safely say that these videos are really good. Stanford University released their CS106A lectures on Youtube. The class is basically intro to programming and teaches you basic Java. The main purpose behind the videos is to understand programming methodology. What really makes these videos great is Professor Mehran Sahami. The guy is really good at making dry material very interesting. So far I have not learned much code wise but I’m surprised at how much I have learned about programming theory.
If your a new programmer or an intermediate programmer without college experience I really recommend this free programming video series! The series contains 28 videos that are about 50 minutes each.
The only thing I would warn absolute new programmers about is the fact he sometimes assumes a little bit of basic programming knowledge but overall it is a heck of a lot better than most beginner programming books.
