Well 2010 is just around the corner and in true tradition I have made a few programming related new years resolutions/goals for myself. My main goal will be to launch my first commercial product (I will have more details about that later) followed by expanding my computer science knowledge and attending college in the fall.
I’m curious to see what other programmer’s goals for 2010 might be so leave a comment below detailing your 2010 programming goals!

My goals for the coming year is to learn SQL, ASP.NET and more Powershell. I want to move from my role as SysAdmin to a DBA.

1) Learn Scala (or Python)
2) Finish first commercial product
3) Learn Grails (or at least PlayFramework)
I will get some more knowledge on Scala.
Get back into a development position. Current job was “worst mistake ever”. Deploy at least one Rails and one Django powered website before summer. Re-learn C, its been way too long since I worked in it.
ok. My goal for 2010. I already know javascript, PHP. For 2010 explore all the possibilities for DOM, become better in CSS, explore security/hacking in the white hat way, protocols, … begin with java and python, perfectionning in javascript/PHP and code usefull ressources for webmasters. Erf.
My goals are restart my programming blog, develop something for the IPhone and do something big outside of work.
I’d like to do the following:
- Get a little better with my design and coding this year
- Make at least one really good presentation for a developer audience
- Learn a Functional language ‘pretty well’
- Increase readership of my blog (www.rickwagner.blogspot.com)
- Find interesting stuff to work on

Well, the job market for embedded programmers in Australia is just about dead – when our hardware design and manufacturing went overseas, jobs to write the drivers went with them – so this year I intend to turn off my kiss alarm and downgrade my C to C++. I might even learn C# and .net and do (sob) websites.
Quit skimming the blogs and rss feeds for great programming tips and read a few more books instead.

What will you write the OS in?
My goal is to develop 5 more Google Android apps in the first half of the year and to launch a web app in the second half.
Start moving our code base from Java EE 5 to Java EE 6 (i.e. adopting Java EE 6 specific features).
Try to contribute more to open source projects. This year I hope to contribute something to Eclipse. Long term goal is to get a contribution into the JDK, but that’s not entirely trivial really. I still need to learn a lot and improve my coding
Finish College, Get A Job as Junior Developer, and Start Blogging.
* Implement USB 2.0 in my operating system.
* Complete my network transport protocol.
* Get more done on my MMORPG.
