Do you have sword fights at work?
Do you have sword fights at work?
One of the biggest “unknowns” for me about the programming field is what programmers actually do on a daily basis.
I have come up with a few sample questions I hope you guys will answer to give some insight to what you do at your job on an average day for people like myself that have no real clue what goes on in the work place.
* What do you do on a daily basis at your programming job?
* How much time do you spend programming?
* What other tasks do you do besides programming?
* How long is your lunch break?
* Do people socialize or does everyone keep to themselves?
* How many people do you work with?
* What kind of development are you in (web, software, games, ect…)?
* What programming languages do you use the most?
* How long have you been programming?
* Do you have sword fights while your code is compiling?
* Do you get to take breaks when you’re frustrated with code?
* Does your boss respect your job?
* Do you ever wish you were somewhere else?
* How much time do you spend surfing the web?
* Is programming just like you thought it would be like before you started working in the field?
Please give as many details as you can about the daily life at your job (even if you feel it’s something small).
Obviously some of those questions seem a little silly but figured it would be something to get the ball rolling and provide people with the details of what you do at your job and what the work atmosphere is like. Also I really don’t think programming is anything like the movies but I’m not sure if it’s like an average job where you have no real freedom or if you do have some little perks over other people in different professions that work in front of a computer most of the day?
Can’t wait to see what you guys have to say about your job! I have always wondered about all the little details of different programmers work environments!
